This is the variant cover I drew for LIBERATOR which was coloured by the amazing (so amazing) Rod Reis. I met Matt Miner in April at MoCCA and since then have become very familiar with his project Liberator, a comic book series about everyday heroes – animal rights activists.
I’m going to be honest here and say that up until a few months ago, I was pretty much done with comic books and the comic book industry. I was disappointed by the treatment of female characters in comics and women in the industry. I had lost most of my fight and had decided – I didn’t want to be a comic book artist anymore. It wasn’t worth the heartbreak and alienation.
Then along came Matt with Liberator to convince me otherwise.
I’ll stop myself here and direct you towards an interview with Matt and me on comicbookgrrrl.com where we talk about Liberator, how it came about and women in comics. Mostly Matt talks, I just kind of babble and get excited about stuff. I have to thank him again for letting me be part of something really great.
I cannot come close to expressing how important this comic book is, how passionate the people behind it are and how much we need your help funding it. The Kickstarter went live earlier today, so please take a moment to consider backing this very worthwhile project. I had a pledge reward up but it has already been snapped up! There’s a ton more stuff though, make sure to have a look.
